Sri Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swamiji (Sri Bala Swamiji)
Sri Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swamiji, the junior Pontiff of Datta Peetham, fondly referred as Bala Swamiji by His devotees is born in a traditional Brahmin family to Smt. Saraswati and Sri Subramanyam on 14th January, 1977 in Mysore. The boy was named Sri Harsha Sharma. Harsha had his Vedic education in Sri Ganapathy Sachidananda Veda patashala.
Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji had identified Sri Bala Swamiji prior to his birth. Consequently, Sri Bala Swamiji has been under Sri Swamiji’s spiritual observance, tutelage, and guidance since then, so that he will be able to fulfill the purpose for which he was born. And hence, on 27th May, 2004, Sri Bala Swamiji was conferred as a junior pontiff of Avadoota Datta Peetham in presence of erudite scholars.Through sacred initiation, Sri Ganapathy Sachidananda Swamiji has infused into Sri Bala Swamiji, the rich, spiritual, and ritualistic Datta heritage. The pure light growing ever brighter within him transforms Sri Bala Swamiji.
The silent boy of the class who hardly spoke a word is today look upon for his great administration, oration in various fields like Shastras, Upanishads and many more. Interestingly, Sri Bala swamiji is a great mrudamgam player and also a poetic wizard. We see His utmost affection for lord Subramanya which is why sacred Subramanya Shrine of 70 feet was initialized at Nadupalani under His guidance.
Sri Swamiji is extraordinary translator of the Vedas into simple language that has been influencing many lives. Sri Swamiji observes Chaaturmasya Deekshas every year. His discourses during this time disseminate knowledge. Many learned scholars of the world look at Sri Bala Swamiji as the ideal student, ideal disciple and a personification of ascetic embodiment.
The mesmerising smile of Sri Bala Swamiji captivates all those who are approaching him. There are a lot of incidents among devotees where they have experienced the divinity of Sri Bala Swamiji. Words are less to describe about all of them, and Sri Appaji himself has claimed that He and Bala Swamiji are one and the same. Devotees feel that Sri Bala Swamiji is the incarnation of Lord Muruga.
